8 life Aspirations formula is based on interpretations of the 8 trigrams which are positioned around the later Heaven Pa kua, and is one of the easiest methods of feng shui to follow. Each compass direction, and therefore each Trigram, as they are know on the Pa kua, relate to a particular aspect of luck. These 8 types of luck, are said to represent mankinds' total aspirations in life. feng shui in general always refers to these aspirations at every level, whether it be simple 8 mansions, or more complex Xuan Kong, or Flying Star.

They are listed in order of Compass direction, and as you will be aware from other sections of this website, when referring to the compass we always have South at the top. Thus:-

South: We require respect recognition and fame in our endeavours.

South West: Loving relationships and a happy marriage.

West: Descendants luck, children and traditionally sons.

North-west: help and support from influential people.

North: career luck, promotions and extended responsibilities.

North-east: attainment of Knowledge and higher education, for ourselves and our family.

East: Good health and longevity for all the family.

South-east: Wealth and prosperity.

Each of these directions and aspirations can be activated in a particular way and is traditionally done so with symbolism, not just the objects within the home itself. Each sector has an element attached to it which is the trigger for these cures, see our section on the five elements for more information and a deeper under5standing of the system.

For instance family photographs can be used to activate the East and help with family relationships and health if the photos are happy, and further helped with green plants such as bamboo. The South can be helped with bright lights, candles and red colours as this helps with fame. Traditional symbols can be placed at each sector to activate, but are one of only many different methods you can utilise, and are also part of a much wider system of cures and enhancements in feng shui.
